Tijuana Carter,MFT Intern

I believe that healing is a journey of reconnecting with yourself, your body, and the relationships that shape your life. As a Marriage and Family Therapy student intern, I support individuals, couples, and families navigating seasons of healing, life transitions, and personal transformation.

For individuals, my work is grounded in personal development, mind-body awareness, and strengthening one’s relationship with self as a foundation for improving overall quality of life and relational health. I encourage autonomy and authenticity in life decision making.  That means making life decisions rooted in alignment is more helpful than making the “perfect” or “right” decisions in most situations.

For couples, my work is grounded in mind-body connection, using multiple methods (not just traditional talk therapy) to reconnect and overcome relationship challenges. Sometimes change is felt through experiences that words can not initially provide. With the right techniques emotional communication can grow overtime.

Overall, I take a holistic approach to therapy, integrating somatic techniques and mindfulness-based practices to help clients build inner strength, deepen self-awareness, and restore balance in their worlds. Together, we explore how stress, emotions, and past experiences may show up in the body, through body language or repeat behaviors. Not only will we regulate the nervous system, identify triggers, and respond to challenges with greater intention and compassion.

My therapeutic style is strength-based, experiential, collaborative, and supportive. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel empowered to explore their deepest fears, emotional patterns, improve communication, and foster healthier connections. Whether you are seeking clarity during a life transition, healing from relational wounds, or simply wanting to feel more grounded and aligned, I walk alongside you with encouragement, curiosity, and care.

You don’t have to navigate change alone, you don’t have to be strong, growth is possible, and meaningful transformation can begin right where you are.
